A Letter to Family Members

Supporting Hands

Dear Family Member:

The Alliance of New York Family Councils is an organization of family members and friends of nursing home residents in the New York area. We actively participate in the family councils of our nursing homes, and we believe that family members uniting and supporting each other in these councils can be an agent for constructive change.

Our mission consists of support and advocacy. We support family members of nursing home residents by providing a forum where we can come together, learn from each other’s experiences, and share practical strategies for solving problems. We advocate for nursing home residents by considering and promoting policies to improve their quality of life. At ANYFC we exchange ideas about meeting any difficulties we face constructively and working toward solutions.

If you are caring for a family member or friend in a nursing home then we would like to invite you to attend our next meeting. If your nursing home does not have a family council, come join us anyway and we can help you start one. Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at 6:15 pm, at a new location: the offices of MFJ (Mobilization for Justice) Legal Services, 100 William St. (between John and Platt Streets), 6th floor. It is near any subway that stops at Fulton Street. Please notify us if you would like to attend.

We look forward to seeing you. Please bring your ideas, your questions, and your desire to improve the quality of life of your loved one, and you will find a welcoming atmosphere.

For further information, or if you would like one of us to visit and speak to your own family council (we would be more than happy to so so), please send a message to info[at]anyfc.org.

Sincere best wishes,

The Alliance of New York Family Councils
