NYS Assembly Hearing on Antipsychotic Drugging
February 26, 2015. On 2/18/2015 the New York State Assembly Health Committee, chaired by Richard Gottfried, held a hearing on the use of antipsychotic drugs in nursing homes. Antipsychotic medications have dangerous side effects, yet in many cases are used not for the resident’s benefit but to make the resident easier to manage. The hearing explored the incidence of this practice and what must be done to respond to it. Links to the testimony presented at the hearing and to an archived video may be found here.
